When you are pregnant of your firstborn it is a whole new path that you are walking on. You might have friends or family who had their firstborn but nothing is the same as you having your firstborn. It could also be a bit overwhelming sometimes especially what you need to have ready for your newborn. Cradle Care has made a list of what we think you need at least. It is an indication to get you through the first weeks and as soon as your newborn arrives, you will probably receive and buy more clothes that will fit your baby.
Since you don't know babies actual size until s/he is born, we do advice you not to buy a lot in one size. When you buy 0000 and baby is overdue and comes out a bit bigger, it would be a waste of some beautiful new clothes.
What Cradle Care thinks you will need in the first few weeks:
six rompers or singlets
six shirts
3 jumpsuits or pants
2 pairs of socks
2 hats
two face clothes
two bath towels
four muslin wraps
cotton wool
soap for babies
hair brush
baby oil
nappies
nappy whipes
sudocream or newborn cream
changing mat
everything you need for their bad plus an extra set
nail clipper / carton nail file
thermometer
bath thermometer
hot water bottle
if you have a baby bath, have a clean bucket ready to use
everything for feeding (bottles, breast pads, powder ect)
As soon as you know babies size, you can start to stock up a bit more if you like, you will change his or her clothes more than once a day sometimes and it will be handy to have some more spares.
The newborn list can be a lot longer with essentials that you know you need. Everyone is different and everyone has different needs. There are a lot of essentials on the market that makes life with a newborn easier and you know what is best for you and you newborn.
